I’m starting a new series of brief video posts with friends of Public Words. For this chat I conducted recently with David Meerman Scott, I wanted to check in with him to see how he is doing during the crisis and to ask him one question: what in his background has prepared him to cope with this unprecedented time?
His answer helps us all, I think, see one possible way forward.
Enjoy, please share your comments and most importantly stay safe!
Just watched. So interesting. Thanks to both of you!
We recently had a lively discussion in our family about “discounted products (like books) during the pandemic” versus “giveaways during the pandemic.” On the one hand, people need to make a living. On the other? Offering a COVID-19 discount strikes us as bad form (not that it’s presented that way, of course).
I forget who said it first, but given how much we’re relying on books and movies and so on to stay sane these days it’s difficult to write off artists as nonessential workers. :)
All the good vibes to Reiko, David!
And Nick, I hope you let us know in the comments — or wrap up the series — with what in your background has prepared you to cope with this unprecedented time. It’s such a great question!
Thanks, Maureen. I’ll ponder how I would answer the question and get back to you:-)
New rules, new questions and answers. Thanks to DMS and to you Nick.
Thanks, Elizabeth — we’re all in the process of trying to figure out those new rules, aren’t we?
Love David’s perspective on giving. This is the time to give whatever we can – our time, money, attention.
Great initiative Nick! Can’t wait for the upcoming interviews.
P.S: Sent Reiko some good vibes during my meditation this morning.
P.P.S: Both of you use such good microphones – it was like sitting with you in the same room!
Shashank — thanks for the good vibes, especially for Reiko. Stay safe, please! And give us the high sign when your industry is ready to come back — I want to get a jump on those reservations!
Thanks so much for this wonderful initiative and for having me on. I’m very much looking forward to hear what other people have to say!
Thanks so much for kicking off the series, David — as always you set a great example for the rest to follow:-)
